2019 March Progress Report

Alright, definitely slowed down this February. Still doing alright, but I got sick for about 10 days , and then sprained my ankle. So training has been bad the second half of the month! Submitted my camera ready version of my Police Use of Force paper! Woot! Been on autopilot mostly, doing the work/school thing… Homeworks, projects, programming, etc. Completed a simple 3d project this weekend that I’ve been wanting to do for a little while now!

Replace Windows Laptop with iPad Pro 2 – Final

So after one month trying out the iPad Pro 2, I had to go back to a laptop with a real OS on it. I was dangerous enough with just the iPad Pro 2 and I simply loved the user experience, but was not my best self when using just the iPad. Here is my personal chart of pros/cons or wins for each. Apple iPad Pro 2 Microsoft Surface Book (1st gen) 120Hz Display Mouse/Trackpad Drawing Fluidity F1-12 Keys Screen Quality Available Software Touch Fluidity File Management/Access On/Off/Switch Speed Access to iMessage Apple iPad Pro 2 Summary Oh man, Apple’s ProMotion 120Hz screen makes me drool.

Today I have an iPad Pro 2, a Logitech Smart Keyboard and a pencil. First impressions here we go! The Installation [][2] This was quite easy. I just brought my iPhone close to my iPad, and then it just synced my account and downloaded all my apps from my iPhone to my iPad. Great time saver! Goofing off I didn’t get the pencil and keyboard until mid-week. So all I found myself doing with my iPad when I first got it is watch videos/shows and play my iPhone games on a really big screen!

I’m sure there are probably easier ways to do this, but I made a small windows GUI Executable using C#/WPF that will download Album, Title, and Art from rainwave’s API, and I wanted to share it with you.

Setting up C++ Makefile Project in Visual Studio

For my computer graphics course, I have to submit all my projects using C++, compiled using g++ and a Makefile.

If you don’t know what a Makefile is, it’s basically a list of steps/depencies to get to the final product. For example, to end up with DogSimulator.exe, you will need to run g++ on DogSimulator.o and Dog.o (compiled objects). And the prerequisites to DogSimulator.o and Dog.o are DogSimulator.cpp and Dog.cpp respectively.

It’s not too hard in the terminal, because once you have all your files in the terminal, you just type “make” and the magic ensues. But I’m a snob for my Visual Studio IDE, so I am going to set it up there. Haha.

Git on Windows (Cygwin and Git Extensions)

Dear Blog, Setting up git (Version Control System) really did suck on Windows. It wasn’t a simple install this package, and all your problems are solved. I had major issues trying to use PuTTy, plink, and copSSH, which I believe most people use if they are using git on windows. I’m doing the cygwin approach. It’s soo much easier (to me at least). Dear Blog, I decided that I am going to use Ansca Corona to develop a game I’m working on vs. Airplay SDK. This LUA language is soo much easier than C++. I still would love to have my games programmed in C++, but for just me, it’ll take too long to get to my final destination. So, LUA it is! The 12th and Last Day in Austin

Dear Blog, Wow! Time has passed sooo fast. I can’t believe it. Well, I woke up about 10:30 AM today and invested in some additional stocks. Not too much, but needed to add a few stocks since the stock market took a hit today. Well, I went straight to that overgrown hedge, and I don’t know what I can do to get that out of there. It’s stuck pretty good, and a pretty good chance that I’m hitting cement or stones with my shovel.

313V3N (ELEVEN) – Sunday Sunday Sunday

Dear Blog My brother’s family came in! I know he was really excited to have his family back from Korea (I know I was happy for him!). I believe I heard that the time difference is about 14 hours. So, if it’s 10:23 PM Sunday here, then it’s 12:23 PM Monday over there. Yeah, so that equals a lot of jet lag for Taehee and my nephews I did a typical family day, where we ate at McDonald’s, did a 3D puzzle, played with the kids, helped on a 2D puzzle, checked out the cool pictures from Korea, and had a nice homemade meal at night.

Dear Blog, It’s Saturday, and what a wonderful Saturday it is! Tomorrow my brother’s wife and kids come back! Very exciting for everyone here! Well, we split all the house work between us, and got the whole house done. It looks nice now, and ready for the family. Oh yeah, we were up soo freaking late last night just trying to get Mac OS X on my laptop. But, wow! After all those hours, and some hours today, We finally got it!

The Ocho at Austin

Dear Blog Alright, alight! What’s up! It’s the end of Thursday (technically Friday) and I’m writing another blog. I woke up early today! 7:30AM! Very excited about that. And since I was up early, I decided to do something that may be cool (or not cool) for myself. I invested in stocks! Yay! Anyway, it was $3 a trade, and I always thought a trade consisted of multiple stocks, but i guess it just consist of trading one company (multiple shares).

Day 5 – Back to Business

Dear Blog, Waking up late still, 11:00AM, but today I got back to work. I’m still working on clickinclock.com. I’m really not getting anything done, just shuffling code around to make it cleaner and more efficient. I was on the computer for about 6.5 hours today working on the site. I guess what I’m trying to do change the million of database functions for each table into one or two functions that work for each and every table.
